We do a lot of work in Amárach trying to understand the drivers of consumer decision making, including financial services. So it isn't surprising when you learn that things like interest rates are a big influence on decisions by savers as to where they put their savings and so on. Fairly obvious stuff.
But once in a while you come across an idea that takes the fairly obvious and turns it on its head. Like the service provided by
Spaarbod in the Netherlands, whereby you register with them, tell them how much you have as savings and they then get the banks to bid for your savings.
Why stop there? "What am I bid for this family's entire grocery spending for the next year?" We live in interesting times.
